Lori's blog

April 18th, 2008

Happy SPRING everyone. I can't tell you how bad I needed this beautiful weather we are enjoying here in the Boston area. Now, if only school was over and the pool was open. Ok, I know - one thing at a time. Next week is April vacation and at least I have that to look forward to. My husband has been Spring-cleaning the yard non-stop and I find myself sitting on the swing set with the kids yelling things like, "It looks real good babe, do you want some iced-coffee?"

Trisha Tour - Video Blog

Answers to member blog questions

Hi All,
Thanks for posting these member blogs - I have some answers to a couple of questions.

1. I play two guitars typically in a set. I rotate between my COLLINGS OM-1 and my GIBSON which I keep in standard tuning. Then I have my MARTIN 000-15 that I keep in DADGAD tuning. The Martin is the one pictured on the cover of UNGLAMOROUS.
2. Someone was asking about a song title - I have been performing an un-recorded song called "HOW ROMANTIC IS THAT" at some of the Trisha Yearwood shows. I'm pretty sure this song will be on the next record.

Monday February 11, 2008

I spent ten minutes yesterday morning watching my 3 year old son David eat a dry chocolate chip pancake on the living room leather sofa. It happened by mistake. We were watching morning cartoons, my mom radar kicked in and I realized he was eating on my new sofa. My first
instinct of coarse was to pick him up and bring him in the kitchen.

JOURNAL UPDATE 01.29.08

Hi everybody, I hope this finds you well. I'm just back from a 5-day tour
with my band. Tackling Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York and
Connecticut; we got to play great rooms for great crowds every night. It's
crazy to show up in a city I've never been and play for a sold out room. The
beautiful Allen Room at Lincoln Center was unlike any stage I have ever had
the honor to sing on. With it's enormous glass wall it felt as if we spent a
New York City gig night suspended over Columbus Square. My band mates and

Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy New Year everyone! Can you believe it's 2008? We had a wonderful Holiday season here at the McKenna house. I will admit to being VERY behind in my shopping this year (I actually wrapped my last two gifts this morning). But for good reason, I think, as I spent 4 nights and 6 sold-out shows at Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts my musical home away from home.

Greetings y'all. Have I ever mentioned that I hate shopping?

UPDATE November 12, 2007

112 kids. Well, 112 trick-or-treaters at least. I have a feeling that a good 5 or 6 of them may have been 18 years old (at least). I definitely saw some REAL facial hair on a couple of those kids. I think someone heard I had full-size candy bars and that sent the big kids knocking.

October 30, 2007

One more day left in October and I'm tallying my month: 16 flights, 15 cities, one hotel evacuation, 12 rental cars, 14 airport dinners, one lost favorite-sweater, one hour in the desert, 2 books finished, 6 living legends, and two small blue lights - which may or may not have been the ghost of the Union Station Hotel.

Drive To Edmonton, AB

I look at the pictures that my husband and son Brian took while we drove from Vancouver to Edmonton and all I can think is that there's not much to say. It's all in the photos. It's about a 14 hour drive that took us 20 because we stopped the tour bus so often to take a photo. Our bus driver Mark had us in hysterics, "LOOK to your left, it's a moose. Bullwinkle. Big Ben. Parliament. You would think being held up on a bus for 20 hours would be rough with a 5 year old and a 3 year old, but it was a blast! It's a tour bus after all, not my minivan. Although I certainly miss my Dunkin Donut's ice office (medium, milk, no sugar) I could get used to the beautiful landscape up here.
